- Connecting Schools, Housing, and Neighborhood Change
- Schools, housing and neighborhoods all impact each other. We promote state and local policies and practices that bring these sectors together for integrated and mutually-beneficial approaches to expand opportunity and increase sustainability. These include innovative policies and practices linking housing, school facilities, transportation, and land use.
- Cultivating Leadership in Collaborative Policy Making
- Through the PLUS Initiative we prepare leaders in schools, districts, and civic agencies to collaborate. PLUS provides leaders with training, technical assistance, graduate student fellows, resources, and toolkits to connect policies and professional sectors.
- Engaging Young People and Schools in Urban Planning and Social Change
- CC&S works with civic and educational leaders to engage young people in the transformation of their communities. Through our university-community collaborations, we develop training, toolkits, and resources to support dynamic communities of practice that recognize young people as critical participants in urban and metropolitan change. From the beginning, these efforts have revolved around the Center’s award-winning methodology, Y-PLAN (Youth-Plan, Learn, Act, Now!).
