“'Stephanie Khaziran '14 once took a tour of a San Francisco neighborhood. Her tour guide, a local high schooler, was leading her on a scavenger hunt of sorts. Their mission: Find resources for students such as libraries, tutoring, places to find healthy foods, health care, and places to play.

They walked by a bookstore. 'That bookstore looks nice. Do you do homework there?' Khaziran remembers asking.

The student shook his head. 'I’m not welcome there.'”
