California sued over bond program that sends more money to fix facilities in wealthy school districts (EdSource)

A coalition of property-poor school districts has filed suit against California, arguing that the state’s school facilities funding formula is unconstitutional. The lawsuit leans directly on CC+S research to make its case.
EdSource cited the Center for Cities + Schools’ finding that over 25 years of the School Facilities Program, the wealthiest quintile of districts — those with the highest assessed property values and bonding capacity per student — received nearly eight times the state bond funding per student as the poorest quintile. CC+S has characterized equitable facilities funding as “the great unfinished work of the State”s school finance revolution.”
