B.A. Urban Studies, UC Berkeley
Myrna Ortiz was born in Mexico and migrated with her family to the U.S. when she was three years old. She grew up hearing about cars and transportation from her father, who has a career as an auto transmission mechanic; and learning about the world from her mother, who loved to read and learn of lands far away. Myrna graduated with a B.A. degree in Urban Studies from UC Berkeley in December 2016 and has over ten years of experience working with young people, through community organizing, college access programs, and leadership curriculums, with the underlying purpose of empowering youth with the skills to fight for their rights and the needs of their communities.
"Y-PLAN brings together youth and city planners. Having the authentic client opens the boardroom and city hall doors to young people and their families."
