Youth-Led Recovery and Innovation from Tohoku to Berkeley – and back

We are pleased to share the publication of A Decade of Resilience: TOMODACHI SoftBank Summer Leadership Program at UC Berkeley (2012-2024). This comprehensive Program Brief offers an in-depth review of the program’s design, achievements, and lasting impact. Spanning more than a decade, this groundbreaking initiative empowered over 1,000 youth from Japan’s earthquake and tsunami-affected Tohoku region to become leaders in community recovery and resilience. Utilizing the award-winning Y-PLAN methodology, participants engaged in hands-on learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and innovative leadership training, inspiring positive change locally and globally.
